Vostro 5481 fingerprint stopped working
Hi all,
I have updated the BIOS today to 2.3.0 and the fingerprint sensor stopped reading after the laptop restarted.
Did the usual, restart, remove driver and reinstall.
Been using it and quite happy with it for the past few weeks until today.
Win10 pro x64 1903.
Any ideas?

I updated the bios today, and now I have the same problem with you. The same model and Windows version. It's so sad. Still haven't found any solution yet. :(

I went for the BIOS downgrade. (now on 2.2.0)
Easy process and fixed the fingerprint reader.
Downgrading the System BIOS on a Dell System:

Hi mardum,
The latest BIOS available in Dell support website is 2.2.0. We don't see any update available for 2.3.0
Kindly check and update the BIOS once again using the given link that should help.

@Dell-Parnoshree C That's because it was removed. How on earth did you become Dell customer support when you don't even know how to read the previous posts?
Where on earth did Dell even find you?
Bios V.2.3.0 is available a few weeks ago

Hi,
No issues.
The downgrade process was smooth.
It is just like doing a normal upgrade, not even prompted that I'm doing a downgrade.

I've been waiting for a solution from Dell support team, but it looks like I'm just wasting my time. Maybe I'll downgrade it as you did. Please tell me if you have encountered any other problems since the downgradation? Thanks.

Just downloaded and installed BIOS 2.4.0.
Fingerprint reader still works after restart \o/
