ScaleIO cannot tell you which devices to add as SDS devices. You, as the sysadmin should know which hosts you have , which applications are installed on them, which devices are being used (contain partitions / FS formatted etc.) and which devices are free to be used for ScaleIO SDS.

Example:

If it's a Linux node, you can run fdisk -l command to see the device list on that host -> if all hosts are identical you can use the same devices for each SDS.

Usage: scli --query_sds (--sds_id | --sds_name | --sds_ip )

Description: Retrieve information about an SDS

Parameters:

    --sds_id                        SDS ID

    --sds_name                    SDS Name

    --sds_ip                        SDS IP address

Example of printout:

scli --query_sds --sds_ip 10.76.30.115

SDS 5aa9858a00000001 Name: 10.76.61.15-ESX

Another option is to install ScaleIO GUI (simple msi installation)

Login -> go to BackEnd view -> sort by SDS -> expand the relevant SDS object in the table to see its devices.

Thank you. In this way, I could get the devices that I have added to the sds.

What I mean is  that  what I have known is the ip address, account and password of the sds, and I want to add devices to the sds. I don't want to log in every host  to check which device should I choose, so I want to query sds to choose the device in every host by scli.

Querying SDS device is giving the input/output error

Storage Pool: pool2, Capacity: 1787 GB Error-fixes: 0 scanned 0 MB, Compare errors: 0 State: Error

How to solve this error.
