An incredible way to speed-up XPS 15 9550

Working on large MS-WORD documents with my XPS-15 9550 32G RAM is terrible. Resizing an image is luggish: each step lasts about 3 seconds (the same operation on other PCs, even much less powerful, is smooth, only XPS15 is slow, dont ask me why).

The problem is not related to third party software: the problem is replicable and arises also after a clean W10 and Office reinstall only.

After days of sufferences, clean reinstalls, tests of drivers combinations etc. I discovered a workaround that makes Word incredibly faster and more responsive.

You have just to enable Hyper-V from Program and Features/Activate Windows Features, define a virtual switch and magically XPS 15 is faster and faster.

I hope that some expert can explain it; if you dont believe me I can post a video but not now. I have to regain all the time that the hated XPS made me lose.

RE: An incredible way to speed-up XPS 15 9550

I understand that this is not a common issue but I hope somebody can help me. I am a software senior specialist and checked and checked all the information I am reporting here: they are true and repetitive.

I add some bit of information:

  • I could replicate the problem only on XPS-15; any other computer that I tested works normally (included XPS-13 9360)
  • on my PC there is only Win10 and Office 2016
  • everything (win, drivers, BIOS, Office) are up to date
  • I created a virtual machine with Hyper-V and installed in it only Win 10 and Office 2016: some problem!
  • if I start Word in safe mode, then the next execution is correct and image resize is smooth (that on real and virtual machine)
  • in the following executions after the first, the problem arises again.

My God, please inspire someone to help me...:emotion-2:

I got it! The problem is not related to XPS but to Word 2016.
