Inspiron 15R N5010, Windows 10

Has anyone upgraded that machine to Win 10 from Win 7? Did you experience any problems? Everything works fine?

Sounds good, Butch. I thought my bios was pretty up to date, but will check.

I found that I needed to update my BIOS. Once updating that everything worked as it should have. I did not have a problem with anything else. I can tell you tomorrow evening which BT driver is on it once my wife gets home with the computer.

I would try downloading drivers that were meant for W8.1. Bluetooth shows up in the device manager separate from the network. I am running BIOS a10 if you are going to flash your BIOS you will have to go into the boot of the BIOS on start up afterwards and change how it boots from Legacy to UEFI I think.

JLan, I know you going to think this a little crazy but my drivers on the 5110 are Generic BT Adapter from Microsoft dated 6/21/2006 with a driver number of 10.0.10240.16391 and the same driver for the enumerator. I checked my Desktop and it is using the same driver. I can't explain why yours is not working.

I have an older Dell 1720 that had Vista originally. Had updated it to W7 and now to W10 with no problems at all. It is a little slow but still works fine. It has the same BT driver as the rest

Interesting. I wonder how I go about switiching the BT back on, as it doesn't show up in my network adapters anywhere. Maybe the 5110's are more supported than the 5010's? Will look at it again soon. WHen I try reinstalling the drivers from the website, it says the're"... not supported with this version of the Operating System"

Upgraded my Inspirion N5010 4GBRAM to Win10. Used the USB/DVD option, not the upgrade assistent. You can go to Microsoft site to find this option. Pop in the USBstick, choose Setup and go. No need for keys or anything.

Everything works like a charm! Sound, keyboard, video, mouse, trackpad. Upto the function- controls for sound and light and Wifi.

It took aprr. 2 hours to install. Please check the option to update before install (asked by the installation software). It downloads the latest drivers for your system before installing W10.

The only thing is... the Windows-key next to the space looks outdated..... :)

Thx Alwin. So your bluetooth is working? If you don't mind, could you send a screenshot of where you'd find the bluetooth driver/configuration in win10? It's the only thing not working for me.

No cant fine any setting of BT,so guess not. :(

Manufactures has an outdated website so no luck there either. Can try the win7 drivers in legacymode in W10.

Will get back on that.

A more reliable andere permanent solution would be tot buy a new BT USB dongle. You will have the latest W10 drivers, speed and latest specs, at the cost of a USB port and a few $ ¥£or €.

Something like this? If I get one, it will have drivers available that are win10 compatible, correct?

I cant see any link in your massage. But if it looks like a USB thumbdrive thats what i meant. If its New it should have W10 support, but check before you buy.

I bought an Inspiron N5010 in the year 2011 with pre-installed Windows 7 (Service Pack 1). I use to always keep the automatic updates on. Still I did not get the Get Windows 10 app, which should be appearing automatically if the Windows is genuine.
Then I went to a Microsoft store, they checked and said that it's asking for the product key and when we use the key that was there at the underside of the laptop, it's showing error.
The Microsoft people is suspecting the Windows is not genuine. I'm not sure why this is happening.
