Inspiron 5570, Windows 10 automatically downloads

I am reading a post saying Windows 10 is not great for the Inspiron laptop. I don't know the pros and cons but on my computer, I did not receive the option to update, it just updated automatically. I remember this happened to me years back when a new update went through it was the same thing. I don't understand how some people say they choose to stay with an older version if your computer automatically installs the new version. Am I the only one who doesn't understand this or the second you buy a new computer do you need to choose something in the configuration so it doesn't update new Windows without your permission?

Windows 10 is not "bad" for any PC unless its an old one with old hardware that is not compatible (such as one that came with Windows 7).

Welcome to the Dell Community  @col25

Instructions: What to do if your system is automatically upgraded to Windows 10?

https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-windows_install/instructions-what-to-do-if-your-system-is/3e9cfd02-3fcd-47fe-a7bf-8d8e1ed1f4db

Best regards,

U2

NOTE: All the systems that I use came with W7 preinstalled from the factory.

All have been upgraded to W10 with no problems.

What do you mean if it came with Windows 7. Both my computers are new and came with windows 7. My laptop updated to Windows 10 already on its own. I don't know if my desktop will and I don't know if I can stop it from doing it. I cant understand your message if the computer comes with Windows 7 is it good or bad to have Windows 10 uploaded instead. And if bad how can I make sure it doesn't do it on my desktop.

This Inspiron 5570 shipped from Dell on 8/8/2018 to CostCo with Windows 10 pre-installed on it. The Order Line Items shows =

Well I never downloaded any Dell driver updates or system updates since November and now that I downloaded the Windows update, I cannot get my system to detect any drivers. I thought drivers and hardware updates are different than the operating system. Why wont my computer using the Dell SA or the Dell online detect any drivers? I did not update my Dell updates yet and now that I have Windows 10, there are no Dell updates?

Windows 10 is the only version that is viable after Jan 2019.

Windows 10 works fine for most Dells from 2006 on that have at least Windows 7 License.

All new computers MUST USE windows 10.  Windows 7 and 8 are end of life.

Unistall any antivirus software and uninstall support assist.

Download and Run the Windows update troubleshooter.
