Too Many Updates

Is there a reason why my new Dell XPS-13 is constantly being hijacked by incessant updates? I mean, seriously, how many updates does this laptop need?

Thank you for writing to us!

The updates the are on your system might have been pending for a while and are mostly with application that are installed on the system and also the operating system. You can choose to disable it or ask for approval before it runs on the system.

Kindly private message the service tag and email address.

Re: Too Many Updates

I agree! Three Dell products here and they go through updates EVERY time they’re used! Inconvenient and frustrating.

Re: Too Many Updates

Microsoft releases them all the time. You are NEVER done with this.

1803 was force updated to 1809 then theres a rollup and it goes to 1903

This has nothing whatsoever to do with Dell. Its microsoft's issue.

RE: Too Many Updates

I am constantly getting asked to update and when I do, 2-3 days later I get more request.  Why is this happening and why so many?

RE: Too Many Updates

Updates happen all the time.  Antivirus signatures can be updated many times per day.  This will never end.

Re: Too Many Updates

I have two newer Dell computers and both of them want to update every time I turn on the Dell XPS computer. My older Dell computer does not nor does my Boss' computer that is the same age computer (only 3 months older) as my computers.

Re: Too Many Updates

Unless you are running the Long Term Support version of windows on an enterprise updates are no longer optional.

You MUST update when Microsoft Says you need to.

Windows 10, updates are automatically downloaded and installed except on metered connections.

Windows 10 will automatically check for new Windows Updates every time you go online.

Windows 10 will automatically download and install important and critical updates by default.
