XPS8700 Windows 10 Drivers

I have a pair of Win 10 machines around 4 months old running 8.1 Pro.

I went ahead and and updated to Windows 10.  It seemed to go smoothly.  I updated the Bios before I did the upgrade and also converted my two local user accounts to microsoft accounts.

Here are some notes:

There were no exclamation points in the device manager but I downloaded and installed the Dell Win 10 Drivers anyway.  The drivers I installed are:

  • Intel 8 Series Chipset Driver-XPS-8700_Chipset_Driver_CR5PJ_WN32_10.1.1.7_A00.EXE
  • Intel AMT HECI Driver-XPS-8700_Chipset_Driver_VJ54R_WN32_11.0.0.1153_A00.EXE
  • Intel Rapid Storage Technology Driver-XPS-8700_Serial-ATA_Driver_C2JM0_WN32_14.5.0.1081_A00.EXE
  • Realtek 8111E Network Driver-XPS-8700_Network_Driver_56FRX_WN64_10.1.505.2015_A00.EXE
  • XPS-8700_Communications_Driver_6Y42Y_WN32_12.0.1.587_A00.EXE
  • XPS-8700_Network_Driver_4JJ9G_WN32_7.35.267.0_A00.EXE

I did not install the following since the system already had one that is slightly newer (.7535 instead of .7525).  I guess windows installed that automatically

  • Realtek ALC3861 Audio Driver-XPS-8700_Audio_Driver_MN0T2_WN32_6.0.1.7525_A00.EXE

I also installed the latest NVIDIA Driver from the Nvidia site (I have GTX745).

I am not sure if I had to update all these.  I could not figure out how to check the existing chipset drivers and installed the dell versions anyway.  I did check the intel RST and had an older version so I installed the newer one form dell.  The Gigabit Network and Bluetooth drivers were also older so I went ahead and installed the dell versions.  For the 1704 Wireless card,  installed Dell driver, but the driver version number did not change so I am not sure if it took.  The file seems like it should be 7.35 but the existing is 6.xxx.

Last, after all done, Windows update downloaded and installed a NVIDIA driver.  However, after installed I checked the version and it seemed to be the same.
