Windows 8 32bit to V 64 bit

Hello

I have an Inspiron 1525. 64 bit system. It came with Vista onboard directly Dell.

I purchased Windows 8 Pro disk from the local shop and foolishly installed the 32 bit version on the laptop by mistake. (Which luckily works fine)

I want to take off the 32 bit and install the 64 bit version of the OS but Windows 8 does not seem to let you change between the two.

Assuming I have already backed up my files using the 32 bit version of the Windows 8 "File history" app what is the best procedure I should use to get to be running the 64bit version and maximise the potential.

Thanks, Alan

Since you have an upgrade key you can follow 2 workarounds (unfortunately you need to install Windows twice to do this as Microsoft failed to make a direct link to a Windows 8.1 .iso).

You will need to download and install Windows 7 64 Bit:

Once you have installed Windows 7 64 Bit (you can install without a product key by selecting skip when prompted for the key allowing a 30 day trial). Run the Windows 8.0 downloader and input your 8.0 product key. Then cancel as it starts downloading and run the Windows 8.1 downloader. This will allow you to obtain a Windows 8.1 .iso. You will need to install using a generic product key and then activate with your actual product key:

Microsoft made Windows 8 and 8.1 deployment extremely difficult due to the absence of a direct link for the .iso unfortunately my 2 workarounds are the best way at current.
