Blocked Startup Programs Help Please

Hi

I am getting a message Windows is blocking a program at start up, from what I can see they are

Dell Dock - not yet classified

Dell Wireless WLAN Card Wireless Network Tray Applet - not yet classified

Dell Webcam Central - not yet classified

I am not using the webcam as yet but not sure whether any or all of these programs need to run at startup.

Any help is always appreciated.

Type msconfig into Run and select startup and see if you can disable them there.

BusyDee,

It sounds like Windows Defender needs permission for these to operate, unless you already gave them permission. I haven't seen this for a long time. I think you right click on each, in Windows Defender, then give them permission.

Thank you both.

I should have said I am running Vista 64 bit is Run in Vista the Start Search please?

Yes, I do believe defender wants permission but I do not know if I need these three programs that is my problem.

I am not using the webcam at the moment but if it does no harm I can enable it - if I knew how.

As for the Wirless WLAN Card Applet I have no idea what that is or does.

I know what Dell Dock is and I thought that was running happily so why is defender blocking it at start up?

I am sorry I think I sound like a real novice, well I am with Vista.

Any help is always appreciated.

BusyDee,

The Wireless WLAN Card, you'll need if you plan to use the wireless functions.

Dell Dock, is the thingy at the top that drops down. I un-installed it and do not use it.

Webcam, your choice.

Wonder why my Windows Defender doesn't ask me anymore?

Hi Rick

Many thanks.

my laptop is wireless free and I have no problems, could I ask if you know how this can be if the Wireless WLAN Card program is not running?

BusyDee,

You can try..

start, run type

services.msc

Hit enter and look at the WLAN Autoconfig. Turn it to manual or disabled, it you do not plan to use the wireless card on it.
