D830 - 32-bit or 64-bit?

I assume the D830 can have Vista 64 installed?  I don't see an option when purchasing or is that selection done at first boot?

Also, why should I go with the 64-bit if I primarily use the latop for business and softare development?

Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Hi Mark
Dell only will install Vista 32 bit if you want 64 bit you will have to buy it retail
or OEM from outside of Dell !!
Good Luck !

You really do not need the 64 bit OS at this time, but others like it because they think and hope it runs the programs much smoother, is a tad more secured than the 32 bit OS, not to mention that later on ( Years from now ) Microsoft will migrate to a fully 64 bit world, but now, you don't have to have it for your needs.
