Please Help

Hi,  My name is Cynthia.  Have Dell Inspiron N7010 Notebook (Laptop), came with 6:00GB MEMORY.  UPRADED TO 8:00GB. I AM NOW HAVING MEMORY PROBLEMS, KEEP GETTING LOW MEMORY WARNING TO SHUT ALL PROGRAMS ARE WILL LOSE DATA FROM MICROSOFT. WHEN ONLY ONE PROGRAM OPEN!!  BEFORE I CAN RESPOND, MY SCREEN TURNS TO BLACK AND I CAN TELL THAT MICROSOFT OR SOMETHING IS TRYING TO SHUTDOWN PROGRAMS AND RECOVER MEMORY...IT TAKES A WHILE AND I'M WITHOUT LAPTOP, YOU CAN SEE THAT SOMETHING IS GOING ON BY THE LIGHTS FLASHING (HARD DRIVE LIGHT ON FRONT ON LAPTOP) ALSO SCREEN FLASHES BLACK TO BLACK. THIS PROCESS TAKES A GOOD 20 MINUTES.  THEN HAVE TO START ALL OVER...  IS IT RECOVERING MEMORY AND IF SO WHERE DID IT GO?  THERE IS ABSOLUTLEY NO WAY I'M USING ALL THAT MEMORY!  BESIDES IT WORKED JUST FINE BEFORE UPGRADING . NOW THAT I HAVE MORE MEMORY, THE LESS I HAVE???  DOESN'T MAKE ANY SENSE. IS THERE SOMETHING THAT I NEEDED TO DO AFTER INSTALLING MORE MEMORY?  .  RUNNING WINDOWS 10 HOME  64-BIT  OS /  DELL INSIRON N7010 / INTEL(R) i3 CORE(TM) CPU M370 @ 2.40GHz / CORES 2. I'M STUMPED. HAVE INCREASED HARD DRIVE. FROM 250 TO 500 / MEMORY FROM 6 TO 8 / HAVE 1 - 4096MB DDR3 - SDRAM (1333MHz) MODULE. & 1- 2GB  DDR3 - SDRAM (1333MHz) - REPLACED WITH 4:00GB DDR3 - CL9 SD-DIMM MODULE. DELL RECOMMENDED FOR MORE MEMORY & FASTER SPEED.  NOW HAVE PROBLEMS WITH LOW MEMORY!!!

RE: DISPLAY DRIVER DELL INSPIRON N7010

cynpow,

Unfortunately, Dell does not support Windows 10 on this computer. There are no Windows 10 drivers available from Dell for the n7010.  That does not mean it will not work. Without windows 10 drivers for the hardware in the system the system it may not perform as well.

The memory issues you are having is more than likely not the physical memory, but Virtual Memory. Below is information to adjust the virtual memory settings in Windows 10.

Increasing Virtual Memory in Windows 10
Go to the Start Menu and click on Settings.
Type performance.
Choose Adjust the appearance and performance of Windows.
In the new window, go to the Advanced tab and under the Virtual memory section, click on Change.
At the bottom of the new window, check what the Recommended value is and how it compares to Currently allocated.
If the current setting is significantly less than the recommended, uncheck the Automatically manage paging file size for all drives box at the top of the same windows and then click on Custom size.
Enter the Recommended value in the Initial Size box, and a larger figure in the Maximum size box.
Click OK to save the new settings.
