Dell Inspiron 15R 5537 Win 7 x64 Driver

Hi all,

I have recently purchased an Inspiron 15R (5537) that come with Windows 8. I install Windows 7 64 bits for compatibility with my other program and I couldn't get any drivers for this OS. Is the drivers for Windows 8 compatible for Windows 7? Or I need to get those drivers else where?

System Model number: Inspiron 15R 5537
Operating System   : Windows 7 Ultimate 64bits

Thanks in advance =)

Find your system on support.dell.com and change the Operating System to 7x64 ... that OS is supported by Dell on the 5537.

Just remember that you cannot downgrade Windows 8 for free - it must be Windows 8 Pro.  In order to legally run Windows 7 on your 5537, you must have a valid/unused Windows 7 license.

Thanks for the reply.

I am not downgrading the Windows 8, I am dual booting Windows 8 and Windows 7. Besides, I am able to run the Windows 7, but just without the driver.

In the support.dell.com, the only driver provided for 5537 win 7 is 'Dell Digital Delivery', which I feel that is not related.

Thanks again for reply. =)

Thanks for all the help!

The drivers for Windows 8 is mostly compatible for the Windows 7 I am using.

However, the wireless network module drivers is not compatible,  but I manage to get this driver thats work fine:

http://downloads.dell.com/FOLDER01502231M/2/DW1703_DW1705_W7_A00_Setup-GMW8T_ZPE.exe

The Windows 7 works fine for now, and no more drivers issue.

Thanks again for everyone helps.

What drivers do you need?  Yes, the Windows 8 drivers will "probably" work.

Most of this hardware is the same as the Latitude 3540 which has Windows 7 drivers. So therefore install the following:

Intel Lynx Point-LP Chipset: http://ftp.dell.com/FOLDER01645351M/1/3540_Chipset_Driver_9MW60_WN_9.4.0.1017_A00.EXE

Intel Management Engine Interface Driver: http://ftp.dell.com/FOLDER01779921M/2/iMEI_Intel_W74_X00_A01_Setup-68C64_ZPE.exe

Intel Rapid Storage Technology Driver: http://ftp.dell.com/FOLDER01641686M/5/AHCI_Intel_W7_X02_A00_Setup-PFN0K_ZPE.exe

Hopefully this should also cover the USB 3.0 devices as they are coming up as Intel for the hardware ID.

Realtek RTS5179 Card Reader: http://ftp.dell.com/FOLDER01645515M/1/3540_System-Utilities_Driver_C8G17_WN_6.2.9200.39042_A00.EXE

Realtek LAN RTL8106E Ethernet Controller Driver: http://ftp.dell.com/FOLDER01694422M/2/Realtek_LAN_W7_X01_A00_Setup-4TD2X_ZPE.exe (try this its from RTL8111G)

Dell Wireless 1705: Driver 7×86, 7×64: http://downloads.dell.com/FOLDER01502231M/2/DW1703_DW1705_W7_A00_Setup-GMW8T_ZPE.exe

Realtek ALC3223: http://ftp.dell.com/FOLDER01641808M/5/Audio_Realtek_W74_X01_A00_Setup-CFG0Y_ZPE.exe

Synaptics Touchpad Driver: http://ftp.dell.com/FOLDER01641925M/5/Synaptic_TP_W74_X01_A00_Setup-YKT9W_ZPE.exe

Intel HD Graphics Driver: http://ftp.dell.com/FOLDER01641524M/5/Video_Intel_W74_X03_A00_Setup-JJ211_ZPE.exe

AMD Radeon HD8850M Driver: http://ftp.dell.com/FOLDER01680554M/5/Video_AMD_W74_X00_A00_Setup-CF44D_ZPE.exe

Dell Quickset (might be incompatible): http://ftp.dell.com/FOLDER01643605M/5/APP_Quickset_W74_X00_A00_Setup-3VK3W_ZPE.exe

Dell Quickset (Windows 8.1 version, may install): http://ftp.dell.com/FOLDER01504074M/1/Application_RY0G4_WN_10.15.018_A00.EXE

I'm not sure why the boot is so slow? How long does it take to get to the Windows 7 desktop when the PC is powered off?

I'm also not sure if this machine has a mSATA SSD cache drive which you might not have enabled. Likely it does as there is an Intel Rapid Storage Technology Driver. Try following the settings in this document here: http://en.community.dell.com/dell-blogs/direct2dell/b/direct2dell/archive/2012/04/13/dell-whitepaper-intel-responsiveness-technologies-setup-guide.aspx

pressing the power button until the login screen is the boot time of 01:33 s. My STI 1442 s 00:28 takes the same operation.
I think it has to do with the driver of 8850m
...
EDIT:
This laptop no have a ssd, only a simple sata hd

My systems are too different to yours and on a dual boot to compare. Confer with 7headsdragon in this thread here:

http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/software-os/f/3524/p/19523874/20475397.aspx#20475397

They have used the same drivers on a similar system.
