Dimension 4700 restore help !

I have an old Dimension 4700 purchased in 2004 and need to do a complete restore,I insert the restore disc and enter the 25 character product key,6 times so far, and each time it says The product ID you have entered is invalid please try again !

Is there a way round this or has the licence run out or am I just having a senior moment...........!

Hi Womblebob,

Have you thought about trying the PC Restore procedure? It's possible this wouldn't work since your system is so old, but no harm in trying.

Ok, assuming it doesn't, are you using the Dell XP reinstallation disc that came with your computer?

Hi

Yes I have tried all the PC Restore Procedures, and I am trying to use the Operating System Reinstallation CD XP Pro Service Pack 2.

It just will not accept the 25 letters and numbers I put in,even got the wife to do it just to be sure !

I have reinstalled once before using the disc.

Cheers Bob

If it is a Dell XP Pro SP2 CD, it should not be asking for anything.

As I said, if it is a Dell CD, it won't ask for anything.

womblebob,

Thank you for using the Dell Community Forum.

Sometimes it is hard to make out the numbers or letters of the COA, For instance, an 8 may look like a B and 6 look like a G. Make sure the numbers and letters that you are inputting are correct.
