Hard Drive Crash - New OS, Help with Drivers
I need some help ... my Dell XPS 8300 experienced a fatal hard drive crash last week. I went out and purchased a new hard drive, then Dell Support sent me a copy of Windows 7 to load up on the machine. I successfully loaded the OS, however all drivers are missing.
Fast forward, I went to a different (functioning) machine and downloaded (onto a flash drive) all the applicable drivers from the Dell site associated with my Service Tag. I also burned the drivers onto a disk.
Here's the question: how do I load the drivers onto the Dell XPS? The files (on the flash drive or burned cd) are not recognized by the desktop?

Use Downloads.Dell.com and ignore the Dell Download Manager. For the XPS 8300:

Copy the drivers which are executables to a temporary directory on the new hard drive. Then run the executables.

Thank you for the reply. I'm still struggling. The files on the disk (D:) aren't copying over to my C: drive. I can see (using Windows Explorer) the contents of the D: drive.
Can I run the files directly from the burned disk (D: drive)? If yes, what would the run cmd look like? An example of a file name is - /DELL_DELL-DIGITAL-DELIVERY_A06_R318926_ZPE.exe

Generally you double-click on an executable file to run it.

I have never used Dell Download Manager to download drivers.

I'm starting to think this is an issue with the download of the drivers (from the Dell site). I'm downloading from my Lenovo laptop, NOT the Dell XPS desktop (because I can't connect to the internet from it).
The Dell Download Manager could be the issue. I need to re-try downloading the drivers.
Like you mention, running an .exe is a piece of cake. That's not the problem. The error message is actually suggesting that I can't copy (or run) because the file(s) are not readable.
I'm traveling on business the next few days, however I'll update my status later this week.
Thank you!

I want to thank everyone for the assistance. My machine is up and running, fully functional.
A re-cap of the process:
I installed the new hard drive, then loaded a copy of Windows 7 (sent to me by Dell Support). This is where the issues began - I didn't have internet access to load drivers. So I went to another machine and the downloads.dell.com website. I downloaded all of the recommended drivers for my XPS 8300 onto a portable flash drive, then updated my Dell with these drivers. Still issues! However, I now had internet access and was able to load the MS Installer to use Windows Update. This was key. After 250 successful updates with Windows Update, I was fully up and running! All issues resolved.
