How do I get a new driver I need before I can get SP1??

Hello,

I've tried to get SP1 for Vista today but it isn't appearing in Windows Update. According to a microsoft KB article (948343) this is because I have an incompatible audio driver. Specifically, I have

SigmaTel HD Audio CODEC

• Stwrt.sys - version 6.10.5511.0

I've had a search on the web but cannot find an update for this. Can anyone point me in the direction of an update for this driver?

Thanks,

David

I'm in the same boat (Creative Audigy driver) and we might never get new drivers for some of these older cards. But don't stew over it. Most of SP1 has already been installed if you have automatic update turned on. SP1 is a rollup of all the fixes previously released plus some new ones. If your vista installation is working well, you can wait. A new driver might be released in the future or MS might figure out a workaround. If you are having problems that sp1 could fix, a hardware upgrade might be the only way. My 410 and Inspiron 1720 have the same v6.10.5511 (stwrt.sys) SigmaTel HD driver and all I did was download the 5 language 32bit SP1 (445mb) that MoneyGuyBK posted. SP1 installed just fine and all is working great.

Listened to an MP3 via Windows Media Player and all the Windows sounds work. So far, so good.

I have the same driver and did the SP1 install anyways.  I have not seen any issues so far.
