How to stop laptop from going to sleep when closing the lid.

I'm trying to have it so my Dell XPS 13 9300 can be closed while connected to a monitor, and that monitor stays on. I went into the power controls and have it set that when I close the lid the computer should do nothing, and yet as soon as I close the lid, it goes to sleep. Anyone know what I could try to fix this?

Also if it matters I've got my HDMI cable connected to a HooToo USB-C dongle and my monitor is an Acer Nitro VG27.

Are you running windows 10/11? You can disable the primary monitor using a key on the keyboard (from an image I found online for your laptop, it should be f8)

Press that key, then click “2nd display only”

Hope this helped!

Solution
Go to Control Panel.
Select Power Options.
Click Choose when to turn off the display in the left pane.
Click Change advanced power settings.
Go to Power buttons and lid and expand Lid close action.
Change Plugged in to Do nothing.
