How to uninstall McAfee LiveSafe?

Good Afternoon:

I am relatively new to the Dell Community.  Hello, everyone!

I few days ago, I purchased a new Dell Inspiron 15 5000 laptop. I expect it to arrive in about 2 weeks.  The purchase included a subscription to McAfee LiveSafe (By the way, I think Dell should stop including such software, and allow consumers to clean install a security solution of their choice...or even simply use Microsoft Defender).

A few questions:

(1) What is the appropriate method to completely uninstall McAfee LiveSafe (control panel; a removal tool)?

(2) Should I activate McAfee LiveSafe prior to uninstalling the software?  Or, can the software be completely uninstalled without activation?

I am quite concerned that if McAfee LiveSafe is not properly uninstalled, it will result in a nice, new Dell laptop being nothing more than a paperweight.
