Installing Vista 64 bit
I have a Dell 1535 laptop with Vista 32 bit installed. I want to change to Vista 64 bit. I have a commercial copy (a non-Dell disk) of Vista I am trying to install. Each time I try, it asks for the drivers for the DVD/CD player to be installed. I cannot find the drivers, only the firmware (which is up to date). Is there a way I can install the driver and OS?
Thanks,

You will need the drivers available here:
http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/driverslist.aspx?os=WV64&catid=-1&dateid=-1&impid=-1&osl=EN&typeid=-1&formatid=-1&servicetag=&SystemID=STUDIO1535&hidos=WLH&hidlang=en&TabIndex=&scanSupported=True&scanConsent=False
The driver for the drives will be part of the Chipset:
http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/download.aspx?c=us&cs=04&l=en&s=bsd&releaseid=R180979&SystemID=STUDIO1535&servicetag=&os=WV64&osl=en&deviceid=1134&devlib=0&typecnt=0&vercnt=1&catid=-1&impid=-1&formatcnt=0&libid=27&typeid=-1&dateid=-1&formatid=-1&fileid=246746
If not, then go to Intel's site and find the driver for the Intel GM/PM 965 Chipset.

I tried those and it did not work. What happens during installation is a window pops up asking for the DVD driver file. It wants me to find the file and load it. It does not recognize the files I got from Dell (wrong file type I assume). I also tried loading from a flash drive; it says it's done but when I try to boot it I got lots of errors. Doing a repair does not help. Any other ideas?
Thanks a lot
