Just upgraded my XPS 420 to Win 7 64 - But where are the drivers?

If the native Windows drivers do not work properly, try running Windows Update (enable "other" updates) to see if a newer driver exists from Microsoft.  If that doesn't work, you can't install the Vista drivers (even in compatibility mode), and Logitech does not support them on Windows 7 either, then your best bet would be to get a new mouse/keyboard.  I would try going to Intel.com and running their automatic tool to discover and update drivers ... perhaps the chipset is simply not handling the device properly.

i have been using the downloaded program called driver tool. i believe i found it on the dell site. or i found it on microsoft site..it works very well. even updated my chipset driver. it will search web for the best driver or use generic if you choose too. it has a knowledge base to check for your driver errors i looked and it had windows 7 upgrade driver errors to dig deeper to find...hope this helps a little...(driver tool)

I'm not aware of any "Driver Tool" made by either Dell or Microsoft (Dell has a Driver Reset Tool, but that is different than you describe) ... do you have the link you used?  I am very untrusting of "driver tools", because in most cases, they use generic drivers (even if it is an "exact" one it says it found on the Internet) which do not always work (or do not fully/correctly support features of device) and are hard to completely uninstall if they cause a problem.  Many "driver tools" and many generic drivers "found on the Internet" are "value-added" programs, loading any number of pieces of malware on your system along with the driver that is purported to work.  I doubt that any "driver tool" you got from Microsoft or Dell would be that careless as to scour the Internet for a driver that will work.

 it searches microsoft 1st and it a huge library of drivers if you choose to select from. i wouldnt use generic drivers unless i had too...i will look to see where i found this tool. and i will repost

i found the site.  www.xpdrivers.com it is partnered with norton but can uncheck norton before download. found it on microsoft site. plus alot of forum talk about it. i have the headquaters phone number if you want it....:emotion-15:

I will assume your system has Malware so recommend scanning it with Malwarebytes' Antimalware:

Natakuc4, Wow, thank you for link. I am curious to know what the Windows 7 64 bit drivers are not available when I run Dell's auto detect? All that I see are Vista drivers, which may work, but I am not going to try and find out if they do. Anyway, I will give this a shot and report the results. Thanks Again! UMRK

These are drivers mainly taken from other Dell systems which have the same hardware components or direct from vendors such as Intel, AMD, NVIDIA.

Dell do not list them as compatible for the OS although they will be.

I was not able to find any updates, firm ware or otherwise, for my optical drives. Finally, the helpful utility that provided a report on the battery life of my blue tooth mouse and keyboard were deleted when I originally installed Win 7. So, while I am still missing a few things on my wish list, I am much better off using the link provided above by NATAKUC4. So, if anyone comes across any of the updates I am still missing, please post link here or let me know. Other than that, my pc seems to be running much better.

I do not recommend upgraded the firmware of optical drives, I have experienced a firmware update which stopped my drive from reading DVDs in an older system. Optical Drives will perform natively with Windows 7.

Regarding the Bluetooth utility can you provide any details about your keyboard and mouse? The Bluetooth Keyboard and Mouse are usually non-standard. I think what you have is essentially a Logitech keyboard and mouse bundle, so you may try getting the latest version of SetPoint direct from Logitech which will be Windows 7 compatible:
