McAfee Trouble and Possible Windows Upgrade

Running XP. I've been having trouble with McAfee running correctly. Went online to 'go assist" Their tech says my OS is corrupted and suggests I reinstall the OS by upgrading to Windows 7 or 8. Don't know much about either, but I'm afraid of losing information. The Dell tech chat just keeps me "in que" forever. Any answers/suggestions?

This should be posted in the Software & Operating System Forum HERE.  However, I would suggest not using McAfee and that may resolve all your problems.

May I know the issue you face when using Mcafee.
Do you get any error message? If yes, please share.
Did you purchase Mcafee or came pre-installed on the computer?

Please share more information so that I can assist you further. Also, share the exact system model no.
