Microsoft Works 9 Calendar.
Hi.
I have a problem with my Microsoft Works 9 Calendar.
Have done everything,what Microsoft website recommends and the Works calendar does
not open. The error message pops-up:” Works cannot access one or more files it
needs or run the Calendar…”

Read only is unchecked. Virus, malware scanned, file association done, the
computer scanned for bad sectors, hard drive cleaned, files defragmenter.

I really don’t know what more can be done in order to repair Microsoft
works 9.0 Calendar, which stopped working suddenly two days ago and sice then I search Internet for a help.

Hi.
I am happy to inform, that another reinstallation of Microsoft Works 9.0 solved the calendar problem.
The Calendar works like a charm now.. Have no idea what i was doing wrong.

Hi evahaljad,
Welcome back to the Community.
To resolve this problem, use one of the following methods:
Method 1: Have Authenticated Users Take Ownership
1.Log on to the computer as an Administrator.
2.Click Start, point to Administrative Tools, and then click Local Security Policy.
3.In the left pane, expand the Local Policies branch.
4.Click User Rights Assignment.
5.In the right pane, double-click Take ownership of files or other objects.
6.Click Add.
7.Under Name, double-click Authenticated Users, and then click OK two times.
Method 2: Change User Permissions
1.Log on to the computer as an Administrator.
2.Click Start, point to Search, and then click For Files or Folders.
3.In the left pane, type mswkscal.wcd in the Search for files or folders named box.
4.Click Search Now.
5.In the right pane, right-click the Mswkscal.wcd file.
6.On the shortcut menu, click Properties.
7.On the Security tab, select Power Users.
8.Under Allow, click to select the Full Control check box.
9.Repeat steps 7 and 8 for Users.
10..Click OK.

Vista-OS, 32 bit, Home Premium (Dell-Studio- 1555 Laptop) The software-Ms works
9.0 came installed with new PC - purchase and installation CD was
included.
on my machine. Can’t see it under Administrative tools in Control
Panel.
is missing.
not in Program Files/Common Files/Microsoft Shared/Works Shared
Folders.
from CD I have. It did not help . Mswkscal.wcd is
still missing.
or entire software from .
laptop and I will not solve it with no help.

Please go through the link below for doing it in windows vista operating system.

If this does not work we may have to perform restore the computer to factory installation state.

Hi.
Thanks for the link.
I performed the fix, and after that the calendar still does not open.
I just found, right- clicking ' Mswkscal.wcd '
that the file opens with Internet Explorer,This astonished me,
as the file extension 'wcd' opens with Microsoft Works by
default.
.
Accordingly I am trying to change file association with right program.
I keep selecting Microsoft Works with no awaited result.
(It can be changed to any program,) but Microsoft works9.0.
.
I guess, my original Dell installation cd got corrupted or damaged already.
I am willing to believe,, that Microsoft Works 9.0 reinstallation from Dell webside could solve the problem, but I can't . find a link to download Microstoft Works 9.0.
