Norton Anti-Virus problem. Uninstall and reinstall how?

My Dell Inspiron 6000 came with Norton Internet Security pre-installed on it.  It was working fine until yesterday, when I turned the computer on and Windows Installer came on as the computer was loading.  Then I got a message that said that Norton Anti-Virus does not support the repair function - please uninstall and then reinstall.  How do I do this if the program already came loaded onto my PC and I have no CD-ROM?  I contacted Norton already and out of the possible solutions they gave me none worked.  Where do I turn to now?  I hope someone can help...  Thanks in advance.

No, because I just had to restore my system the other day so everything is still basically 'new.'  I'd like to avoid another system restore at this time if at all possible.

Have you tried running a System Restore to a point prior to when the problem first occurred?

That's precisely what it's there for. Perhaps you're confusing "reinstalling the operating system and software" with the System Restore function in Windows XP, which is what I suggested.  System Restore is meant to be used when it's needed, and if performed correctly, shouldn't disrupt anything else you have on there.
