PC-Doctor Module has stopped working

Have received this message a number of times now - can't figure out what triggers it. the dell PC Checkup program is not running when it appears (at least no UI).

Microsoft has no solutions to propose...

If you follow the thread above, you will see what helped most people. What solved the problem for me was downloading a specific driver. It WASN'T the driver recommended by Dell in the downloads page; it was a different driver. Once I did that (and it was a large download!), I haven't experienced the problem at all. Problem solvled.

I see above, though, that Dell Support has created a new Dell Support Center for downloading that supposedly fixes the problem (maybe it contains the appropriate driver?). I still have the old Dell Support Center, so I'm hesitant to change that, out of fear that the PC Module error will reappear.

But for me, it was the driver. I have Windows 7 64 bit.

Thank you for using the Dell Community Forum.

You could try reinstalling the pc checkup to see if that will resolve the error. You can also look at the links below to view what others have done to resolve this error.

Try the instructions to Uninstall Dell Support Center then reinstall it. If the problems is still there, please let me know and I'll contact the person from PC Doctor to help.

Hi PudgyOne,

I have exactly the same symptoms as Honeycombe ("PC Doctor Module has stopped working" regularly appearing on my screen). Per your suggestion, I have fully removed the Dell Support Center software using Control Panel and the 'full cleanup' as you described. I re-installed a fresh copy of Dell Support Center and within minutes got the "PC Doctor Module has stopped working" error message again.

Looks like we need the support from PC Docotr?

We have seen this occur on 64 bit systems running the Synaptics driver version 15.2.5.2 but it is resolved with version 15.2.20.x which can be found at www.synaptics.com/.../drivers

On a semi-related note, I see you are running an outdated version of Dell Support Center.  You may want to download and install the latest version at www.dell.com/dellsupportcenter

I too am having this issue.  Running Vista under 32bit.  Am running the current version of Support Center.  More suggestions appreciated.

I'll try downloading the 15.2.20.x driver. I have 15.2.6 now, which is what is on Dell's download page for updating drivers & such.

The reinstallation of the support center didn't fix the problem, just as it didn't for Cairnapple above, unfortunately, despite my high hopes. But I'll try the new driver.

Please post the details of your error and we'll see what we can find.  The instructions I provided above were specific to the details the original poster provided which indicated a Synaptics driver failed to unload properly.

My husband just started getting the same error 2 days ago in Vista 32bit.  Based on other responses not thinking that reinstalling suport center will work and afraid to mess with Syanptcs drivers?  any other ideas?

Been getting this error on my wife's DELL computer running on Vista since I upgraded her Norton Internet Security software to 2012 about a week ago.

 

I read all the posts but i don't believe a definite resolution was published.  Can someone please post or send me the resolution if possible?
