Problem with XPS 14 - Factory Reset - win 7
Hello, I have a Windows 7 home premum x64 XPS 14 ultrabook (L421X) - that does not have a Optical CD/DVD drive. i have used the system tools of windows 7,make c:100m,D:50MB,and e:200MB, I have installed a windows 8.1 enterprise in drive D as the 2nd OS,so I can run Win7 and Win 8.1. Now,I use Dell Backup and Recovery tool in win 7,select Factory image, then click "restart",the laptop restart, then go into a repair option ,but the win8.1 option, not win 7,and have no option to repaire win 7. i have crate a recovery usb drive, but ,it still use win8.1 option. I still tried F8 select repair option ,sitll run in win8.1 repair tools. I want to factory reset the system - how can I do that. Thanks,

Hi albert,
In the process of installing Windows 8.1 the recovery partition seems to be corrupt. However, please follow the steps below to restore the computer to factory state.
1. Turn on the computer, after the Dell Logo appears and then disappears repeatedly press the key until you see the Advanced Boot Options menu.
2. From the Advanced Boot Options highlight Repair Your Computer with the arrow keys and press .
3. Click ‘Next’ and login to your administrator account on the computer. The administrator account is the account created the first time the computer was turned on.
4. Click ‘Dell Factory Image Recovery and DataSafe options’ and follow the prompts provided.
Please let me know if this helps.

Hi albert,
The Integration between Windows startup repair screen and Dell Factory image is corrupted due to Windows 8 operating system upgrade. That is the reason you are not able to use the factory restore option. Performing manual reinstallation of operating system using the disc is the next ideal step.
