Tiger Woods 2008 problem

First of all, let me thank anyone who replies to this post.  I installed Tiger Woods 2008 on my Dell Inspiron 530.  Everything seemed to install correctly.  Now when I try to run the program, the startup screen for EA Sports usually stops and the program aborts with a Windows error.  Then once in a while it continues to load but the EA startup screen video is all distorted, then the main program continues and works fine.  I am kind of leaning towards it is probably a problem with the video card which is a NVIDIA 8600GT.  I am running Windows Vista and updated my Nvidia drivers hoping this would help my problem.  Any help would be greatly appreciated..  Thank You.

It does sound like a video error.  See if Event Viewer can throw any light on the subject

Type Event into the Search box on the start menu and hit Enter.
Expand "Windows Logs"
Check Application and System for red errors
Click each one and look at the right hand side for the events
(Or double click to find out the Event ID number for investigation)

It would also help if you posted the "Windows Error"

I don`t know which codec pack you installed
Why don`t you try a different codec pack.

Uninstall the other one first

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.  It appears that the libavcodec.dll is in a folder that I installed a Windows Vista Codec Pack so I could play videos on my computer.  Does that help in any way?

I`m not certain that this will solve the problem, but at least we know the cause now.

If necessary we can do some research on the internet for
Event ID:      1000
libavcodec.dll

Just a thought... have you tried disabling Zone Alarm when running this game? I am unfamilliar with the security suite you are using. It may also interfere with proper game operation. Good luck!  _Bill

EDIT: OK. I reread the first post and now see this is all part of the ZA suite. Sometimes security software will mess up a game. I would try disabling and see if it helps. I know you may be trying to play online but a quick test would at least answer the question. -Bill

Well I finally found a solution.  I uninstalled the Vista Codec Package.  Now it works fine.  I now have to figure out what codecs I have to install that will not affect the game and still be able to watch video files on my computer.  Thanks once again for all the suggestions.
