Unable to reinstall vista
My inspiron laptop stopped working and will not fully reboot. I decided to reinstall windows but it was not possible to do it using the back up vista stored on the partition. I am trying to reinstall vista using the DVD that came with it but when it gets to choosing the partition (step 4.6 on http://support.dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/dsn/en/document?docid=339949) it gives the error message:
'Windows could not create a partition on disc 0. The error occurred while preparing the computer'ssystem volume. Error code 0x80042453.'
Any ideas?!?

Your hard drive might have died. You should run the Diagnostics from the boot menu. Do a search for the error code to see more answers.

Running the diagnostics gets stuck on 'Status: attempting to start DST'.
Any idea what this signifies?
