Upgrade Vista 64bit to XP 64bit on Studio XPS 435MT

Hello,

I have a Studio XPS 435MT that came with Vista 64bit and 12GB RAM.  Vista has been nothing but trouble on this computer therefore I want to UPGRADE to XP64bit.  I tried XP 32bit but it would not read the full 12GB RAM.  I want to do a clean install of XP and get rid of Vista forever.  I have two questions though:

     1.  Will XP64bit read the full 12GB RAM?

     2.  Does Dell have the XP64bit drivers I need, or where can I get them?

I greatly appreciate everyone's help and suggestions!

Thanks,

Gonefishn

gonefishn,

Thank you for using the Dell Community Forum.

Dell does not have any WinXP drivers for this system. You would need to search the web for 64 bit XP drivers

I also "upgraded" to xp64bit.   I found some drivers for the chipset on microsoft.com that worked.    not 100% perfect, i think they were for a server.  cause in taskmanager,  it stated i had 8 cores...  but it ran way faster than vista ever did.

Since my reply is 2 yrs later  lol      if you can,  upgrade to Win7 x64     I did,  and it runs very nice and smooth.
