Okay so i recieved my 64bit Vista disk, and I tried to install it.   Even when booting from the CD, when i click the install/setup file on the CD, it says that the 64bit file is not supported.

How do I install a different operating system on a Dell?   Before I knew I could upgrade I tried to "downgrade" to XP, but the laptop wouldn't even let me boot from it, or open it.  Is there some hardware *** that dell installs to forbid OS changes???

Hi Jesse,

Like all the others in this thread I’ve been trying to get the 64-bit Vista Ultimate CD but without any luck. Since I live in Canada, could you please let me know if I can get this upgrade? If not, any suggestions that you might have would be mostly appreciated.

Thank you,

Remus

Jesse, on Friday you said 3 to 5 business days. Today is Monday and I got the DVD. I don’t know how you did it (I’m in Canada), I didn’t see this type of service even in the early 90’s when I bought my first Dell and when service was very good. Thank you.

Has anybody that managed to get this vista 64bit DVD sent to them been charged for it?

Finially got them to agree to send it to me but when I checked the Order Status there was a $10.99 charge.

It's not much to pay for the DVD,  just wondering if everyone is getting this charge.

Thanks for replies

I have seen that charge before but it never is a real charge. It is just an accounting  thing. Happend to me when they replaced my Disc Drive once.
