Vista to XP on Vostro and DVD drivers

My M.I.L. purchased a Vostro 1700 model PP22X. It came with Vista Home. She found out some of her business programs do not run on Vista. She has purchased XP Pro and I can install it and update the XP drivers from the Dell website.

My question is she has 8X DVD+/-RW with double-layer DVD+R write capability, w/o Roxio Creator and is there anything crazy about getting the DVD to work?

Any other pitfalls I should be aware of?

Thanks

The ONLY drivers for CD or DVD drives is the default built in Windows drivers.  If you are talking about CD/DVD Burning software, the two main Retail programs are Nero and Roxio.

If you can't view DVD's it may be a Codec problem.  HERE is one that I found doing a Google search.  I can't vouch for it as I haven't tried it but it purports to have all that are needed for XP.
