Vostro 1400 Can't install xp

Hi I am trying to install windows xp home, on my vostro 1400 notebook. But when Insert the cd and click on install, the installer says "no hard drives found". I've tried downloading the sata drivers from http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/download.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=gen&releaseid=R154200&SystemID=VOS_N_1400&servicetag=&os=WW1&osl=en&deviceid=11530&devlib=0& typecnt=0&vercnt=1&catid=-1&impid=-1&formatcnt=1&libid=41&fileid=205611 and installing them via floppy. I installed the ICH8M-E, driver which seems correct for the chipset. But just before it goes to the screen where it give you the hard drive list, the computer bluescreens. Any ideas?
