Windows 7 Drivers for Studio 1537

Hi there,

I would like to setup my Dell Studio 1537 Notebook with Windows 7 64 bit (current OS Vista 32bit)
and all Dell specific drivers and application. I could not find any drivers listet on the Dell drivers pages.

Can somebody give me a hint where I can find the Win 7 drivers and apps for Studio 1537,
or are there drivers available for other Notebooks which I can use?

Thanks,
best regards

For Windows 7 64 bit here, I haven't finished all the Studio models or got to the 32 bit version yet:

http://dellwindowsreinstallationguide.com/driver-sets/studio-laptops/studio-1537-windows-7-64-bit/

However you can get pretty much all the drivers from the Dell ftp website if you tell it to include all historical drivers:

http://ftp1.dell.com/Pages/Drivers/studio-1537-all.html

Note when trying to download the historical drivers right click the download box and copy the link and paste it in the address bar. There is a problem: http://ftp1.dell.com/chipset%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20/R255577.exe should be http://ftp1.dell.com/chipset/R255577.exe for example otherwise you will get an error.

Hi Maxi-66, There are no drivers listed for Win 7. However, you can use your Vista 64bit drivers for Win 7 64bit., HERE. There are no difference between the drivers anyway.

The first place to look for drivers, is the Microsoft Installation disk, in your case that would be Windows 7 x64.  After that look at then Microsoft Update site.  As a last resort check the Dell site.  After doing numerous XP, Vista, and now Windows 7 updates and installations I have never had to download anything frm the Dell site.  Everything in your PC must conform to the current PC standard or the operating system will not work, why would expect the drivers to be unique to your system only?

See reply about (substitute 32 for 64)

I have found that the IDT driver offered by Dell for the 1537 is not compatible with Win7 64bit. Notably the IDT control panel does not display correctly and there is no option to use the sound card as the default recording device. The Win 7 driver for the studio 1555 & 1737 offered by  dell does work correctly.

I found that doing an upgrade from Vista to Windows 7 created a lot of problems. But, then I did a clean install and everything went smoothly except for the fingerprint reader software. The software would not install with the drivers that Windows7 installed. I ended up uninstalling the Windows 7 drivers and install the Vista drivers from Dell, then the fingerprint software installed and works like a charm.
