Windows 8.1
I installed Windows 8.1 update on my Dell Inspiron 15. Now when I close the lid, the computer shuts off. I checked power options and it says to sleep. Any suggestions??? Thanks

No this did not help. The laptop is in desktop mode, when I shut the lid at night, it is always off in the morning. Thanks

Hi rjr4band,
Thank you for updating BIOS and video drivers. Since the issue is persisting, I request you to run complete windows update and check.
Also go to Power Options window, click ‘Select Power Plan’ à Power saver à Change Advanced Power settings. Now scroll down to ‘Power button and Lid’ and check what is listed for On Battery and Plugged in. If any change in settings is required, change accordingly and check.
Let me know if this helps.

I am beginning to think this Dell is a piece of junk. It constantly throws me off line and loses my internet connection. This has happened before the update. I should have listened to reviews , they said the same thing. How do I do a complete windows update and check? I may just dump this thing.

In case the issue persists even after this check if you lose connection in Safe mode with networking. Find the link below to start the system in Safe mode with Networking.
