Windows 8 installed to my Dell Dimension E310 built in administrator account and now I'm restricted on a Windows 8.1 update.

Windows 8 installed to the built in administrator account on my Dimension E310 and it will not allow a Windows 8.1 update. After hours of working online with a Microsoft technical assistant I was told that the downloaded Windows 8 pro & Media Center went to a Dells Built-in administrators account that is only used by the Dell Manufacturers. He stated that he didn't know how I was able to use it. He also stated that he could  set up another user account that is not using the Built-in administrator account.

The Windows 8.1 update has been quite problematic and Microsoft have not provided a valid means for a clean install with a Windows 8.0 upgrade license. Fortunately for the retail license (which is what you have for that model) I have however documented a workaround see:
