No need to apologize about potential redundancies, Joe... it's great to have all of these collected and organized into one location.

thanks

Thank you for taking the time.  I haven't had any problems, but it's nice to have a handy reference if I do.

Adding my thanks to the rest.  If I've done it right this thread should now be up top for all to see.

I will explain the link for Windows XP Home Edition service pack 3 in Mozilla Firefox 2.0.0.14

If I try to enter a link the Firefox browser goes into window mode.

What other problems do you get with SP3?

If you have a Dell Wireless 350 bluetooth module (notebook computers) you may need to dig up the version 5 Toshiba bluetooth stack/driver from the Toshiba site (v5.10.12, iirc). I'm not sure when a Dell release of a tested driver for XP SP3 will be available nor whether the version 6 driver will work or not with the 350 on XP SP3, unfortunately.

[edit] v5.10.14 of the Toshiba driver works better

SP3 may have been a BIG mistake for me. I was running XP2 with no trouble. Now, DEVICE MANAGER is empty, my modem has vanished and I cannot reinstall it or its drivers, AOL 9.0 & Adobe Photoshop Elements won't open and half my USB ports don't work. To add insult to injury, system restore won't restore my system to a pre-SP3 configuration.

henry, back up your important data, then use add/remove programs to uninstall SP3, in safe mode

That is a very interesting article. I can't say for certain what is causing the problem, but the fact that it happens even on systems where the software is not running leads me to believe it is the update and not the software.  Although having it not fail on some systems with the same software makes it harder to determine where the actual problem is ...
