XP home pre-install vs XP home on CD
I have a Dell Diemnsion 3000. I just finished replacing the 40GB HD with a 160GB HD. Everything seems to be OK. However, when I try to re-install the MS Broadband Networking Software, I got an incompatibility error message. This works fine with the XP Home that was pre-installed with the PC. Now, after I install XP Home from the Dell's provided CD, I get this error message.
I went ahead and continue with the installation, but the installation gets stuck in a loop between detecting my wireless network and the encryption code.
The XP Home version is 5.1.2600. The MS Broadband Networking Software version is 1.0.0.227.
It seems the XP Home pre-installed version is not the same as the version provided on the CD. How can I get the pre-installed version of XP Home.
