The only way to get sound blaster advanced audigy MB with 64 bit is to purchase the X-Fi Xtreme expresscard audio for notebooks,  here is the product and 64 bit driver,  http://support.creative.com/Downloads/welcome.aspx .

But why does it do that? Why is that the only way if it worked fine under Vista x32?

Thanks,

Because there IS a 32 bit driver for advanced audigy MB,but not for 64 bit.

On the creative page it says that the drivers are for Vista 32 and 64 bit. So you're saying that they put out wrong info? If that's the case thanks for clearing it up, I've been so confused and frustrated in this whole mess.

Basically yes,32 bit has the driver for just the sound blaster advanced audigy MB>Now if you select 64 bit,what will be showing is not the driver,just the Alchemy,MediaSource 5,and the CD Plug-in.There is NO driver listed.

If choosing to get the expresscard then yes you will have a 32 and 64 bit driver for it.I hope that makes since.

Hi all,

You are somehow misunderstanding the technical matter of this issue.

The "standard" onboard SigmaTel Soundchip is the "one and only" chip you talk about, it is only a locked feature, already implemented

but NOT activated by a license driver ( yes, here we meet ) that you miss.

The SB installations CD guides you through the "ONLINE" (!) activation sequence that you have to pass (  heck, mine got NOT activated , but that's

another story..) to get the activation service ( seeable in TaskManager ) installed and then you also get the installer to also add gimicks ala

Creative that you basically dont need to get the most out of that card in games only. ( Sleek is better imho )

I also do have the said X-Fi PC-Express add-on card and I am not really sure if it makes any difference to be true.

I have a 5.1 sourround set and I cant tell the difference in BF2, BF2142, Crysis, NFS Undercover, Dirt etc...

I was trying to find out what EAX Level is supported by the SigmaTel licensed circuits...  The X-Fi does EAX 4.0...

they promised ( SB did, and didnt keep ) a 2007 X-Mas EAX-5.0 present , well it is is X-Mas 2008 and no EAX 5.0 for notebooks in

sight...**sigh**

I also thought about going 64bit Vista as well, I have suse 11 and ubuntu 8.10 aside, all in 64bit native mode and this thing just BREATHES

with more ram and adequate brains πŸ˜‰

Now that you can go 2 x 4GB 800MHz_DDR2-S0-Dimm Vista64 makes real sense,  for VMware, CAD and stuff only.

Ahhh, I have heard FarCry2 is supposed to have 64bit mode to make use of 2+GB user level RAM authority.

A 32bit game will never take more than 2GB RAM !  It is not ment to be in windows world, nor linux !

Even in a 64bit system a 32bit game would not go beyond 2GB per process.....  heck    time to move on..

But for VMware this would be greAT,   8GB RAM and 2 x Intel-X-SSDs  ahhh  a new level of power....

For your Problem, call this number for european assistance with Dell/Creative probs, that is what I had to do to get my activation key renewed.

Hi,

This is directly from their page

::::::

For support in North America, call 1-800-998-1000 or 1-405-742-6084 or contact our technical support.

::::::

Still, I doubt that they have a driver for 64bit but you might as well call them up and ask for one.....
