can't connect to dell forum on xp
I can't seem to connect to the dell forum on my xp desktop.
I can connect to www.dell.com & then i try to go to community home all i get is can't find server-
even when i type it in manually http://en.community.dell.com/
this happens w/IE & Firefox.
I'm on the vista laptop now & it all works.
Grisoft avg on both machines set the same & firewall ditto.
Any ideas?

Randy,
Uninstall AVG. They have some component of their suite that filters and examines every packet when your browsing. It slowed my browsing to a crawl and I experienced similar.."can't find server" messages. I would suggest getting Avira Anti-Virus and COMODO firewall (free). This should be more than enough to keep you safe.

r u able to login to banking site or any secured site? example try to open this page and let me know you can open it https://microsoft.com or https://gmail.com . If you are able to browse then there might be some settings problem. else we have to run the patch for secured website.

Append the following two lines to your hosts file, and see if it works then:
143.166.11.91 dellcommunity.com www.dellcommunity.com en.community.dell.com communityweb.ins.dell.com
143.166.170.97 dellcommunity.com www.dellcommunity.com en.community.dell.com communityweb.ins.dell.com
I have Windows XP Pro and my hosts file is in C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc
