ddvette77,

Unfortunately, the Windows 7 disk does not contain 32 and 64 bit versions. Even if it did you would need to have a product key code to access the other version. There are some information and steps to take that may work for you. Dell does not support any of these listed in the link below and will not be responsible for any issues. The link is below.

If the hardware is capable. You should use a Digital River .iso to install Windows 7 64 Bit. To Clean Install Windows 7 64 Bit and download a 64 Bit installation .iso see here:

Model of Dell? Is the license OEM or Retail?

Hi,

It is a vostro 430,the os is the oem version that came with it. It was running sluggish so I thought I add 4 gig of ram, didn't realize 32 bit w7  only supports 4 gig. Wasted 40 bucks,oh well. Thanks.

My guide will instruct you in download Windows 7 64 Bit Installation Media and performing a clean install with the Dell OEM SLP activation. 64 Bit Windows will perform much better on this model with more RAM. If you want to speed it up significantly, install a 256 GB SSD and install Windows 7 64 Bit on it. You can use your existing hard drive for additional storage.
