product activation key for windows 7 has rubbed off
How can I obtain my activation code? I need to re-install windows 7 on my computer. Can you help?
never mind - i found a program to find it off my computer, freepcaudit - thank you anyways

Hi Tethidecans,
If you are using a Windows OEM version DVD to install operating system, you wont require any key to activate Windows.

That program won't give you the product key on your sticker it will give you a Dell System Locked Preinstallation key instead. This means you cannot use retail media and phone activation and must use a Dell Windows 7 Reinstallation DVD which looks like the following.
The Dell Reinstallation DVD automatically unlocks when installed on a Dell BIOS with the Dell System Locked Preinstallation Key. Thus there is no need for the user to enter a product key or activate.
