windows vista mail setting up problem
I have a Dell inspiron running Windows vista premium
I am having problem setting up my windows vista mail account.
Although i can receive emails i can’t send them. I receive an error message saying:” The message could not be sent. The authentication setting might not be correct for your outgoing e-mail [SMTP] server. For help solving this problem, go to Help, search for "Troubleshoot Windows Mail", and read the "I'm having problems sending e-mail" section. If you need help determining the proper server settings, please contact your e-mail service provider. The rejected e-mail address was . Subject 'trial', Account: 'pop3.ukonline.co.uk', Server: 'smtp.ukonline.co.uk', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '550 relay not permitted', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 550, Error Number: 0x800CCC79 The mailserver responded ;relay not permitted. Please check the message recipients and try again.”
I contacted my ISP i followed their advice but in vain. The problem again. They advised me to contact microsoft. In microsoft website i could not find anything that could help me.
When i log on to my ISP web site i can send email from there but i can’t send them from my windows mail program.
I have another computer which run windows xp home edition and i dont have such problems with sending emails. Why then i have such problems with vista? It seems that there is something wrong with the vista operating system rather than the ISP i’m using.
If anybody could help i would much appreciate that.

Thank you for your reply. As I said I followed my ISP instructions regarding setting up an email account. I spoke with a UKONLINE technician over the phone and he helped me step by step to set up an email account. Still, the problem remained. Since he couldn’t do anything more he suggested that I should contact Microsoft for help. I think it has nothing to do with my ISP but with vista operating system. I hope Microsoft will help me with this.
