VMWare View - The application PocketCloud has stopped unexpectedly.

VMWare View - The application PocketCloud has stopped unexpectedly.

Using Epic 4G phone that works with several other connections. I believe the issue is with something on the VM whether it be Novell or another app. PocketCloud eventually errors out with "The application PocketCloud has stopped unexpectedly..."

Any ideas?

OS is Windows XP Pro 32bit.

Application Log shows this after trying to connect.

Hi jones,

Thank you for your feedback.
Need some info:
Do you have a pocketcloud agent installed on the view desktop?
Are you using autoconnection part of the autodiscovery(google sign in) or using a manual view connection?
what were you doing on the desktop when the app crashed?

Smile This has been fixed. See solution/work around

The problem was with the VM and the Novell Netware client. When Novell is installed it replaces the Gina. I was able to duplicate the issue and resolve by editing the registry.

Working GinaDLL
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon GinaDLL
"C:\Program Files\VMware\VMware View\Agent\bin\wsgina.dll"

After Netware Client was installed
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon GinaDLL
NWGINA.DLL

Same error. The app works with other VMs, its just something with that one. I'll probably just delete the VM and be done with it.

Thanks.

I installed the PocketCloud Windows Companion hoping it would fix the issue, but did not. It is still installed.
I am using the manual view connection.
I never actually connected to this desktop using PocketCloud. The error happens during connection.
I have been able to connect to other desktops without any issues.

Thanks for the quick reply.
Do you know if this could be an issue with the desktop having the Novell Client 4.91 SP5?

I've uninstalled the Novell Client and the Windows Companion. The same error occurs.

Here is a screenshot of the phone/error.

Hi Jones,
For view connection , you dont need windows companion. For debugging purpose can you just uninstall the windows companion and see if you see this issue.

Ummmmm, what?

lol, I am having the same sort of problem. I am running a modded Cruz reader with 4.0 on it, so that might be the problem by itself, but I wanted to see if you have any ideas just in case. I have the companion on my XP 32 bit system, but what happens is every time i try to connect the app gives me the old "the application has stopped working..." and I have no choice but to hit Force Close. Any thoughts?
