"Connecting...." ad infinitum
"Connecting...." ad infinitum
I have a 'Discovered Connection' when I bring up PocketCloud on my Android 2.2.
Click on it and I get the message
VNC Password Missing
I have no idea what or where this password is set.
Type in my most common password.
Click ok.
Get "Connecting......"
That is all. It appears to be trying to connect forever.
I have installed the Client side software on my windows7 pc. But I have no idea how to start it.
It shows up as a program in Windows Add/Remove as "PocketCloud Windows Companion".
It does not show up in Task Manager as an application or a process.
It does not show up in my list of installed programs even though I have installed it multiple times.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
Jim

I assume you installed TightVNC on your PC.
Then if prompted for a VNC password, but you don't know what it is:
Go to Start > Programs > Tight VNC > TightVNC Server (Service Mode) > TightVNC Service (Control Interface). After you do that you should see a "V" icon in your tray. Right click on that and select "Configuration". You will then be able to set your "Primary password".
Also what version of Windows PocketCloud Companion you installed? Is it latest 2.1.5?

I just uninstalled and reinstalled Pocket Companion on my PC.
Now I can see the application in my start/programs list. I click on it.
See some processing action happening as indicated by Windows.
Then nothing. I look in my Task Manager and no trace of pocket companion.
I don't see it in my Services list. I don't think it is playing well with my PC.
I assume I am supposed to be able to click on it and a screen of some sort comes up?
Thanks,
Jim

Jim,
Please right click on PocketCloud Windows Companion in your start/programs list.
Then click on "Pin to Taskbar" option
After that you should be able to see Windows Companion icon on the Taskbar.
Right click on this icon > Auto Discovery Settings > Sign in with Google account

Thanks for the quick response. I am impressed.
Yes I have 2.1.5 PC Companion on my Windows7 side that I just downloaded.
I created the password successfully using your instructions but I am seeing the same infinite "Connecting..." using that.
I tested the password on the server side to make sure I was typing it correctly.
I also checked my task manager and can see TightVNC running. It also appears in as an automatically started service in my Services window.
TightVNC is brand new to me. I know you do not do tech support for them but I have a feeling that I am missing some setting on the server side.
The only thing I have done in that configuration is what you just told me to do by setting the password. Is there something else I should have done?
Thanks very much,
Jim

I was unable to log out but I uninstalled and reinstalled.
I think this may be my issue:
"on your PC log out from PocketCloud Windows Companion Google account and re-login again"
I downloaded PC Windows Companion 5 times and ran the install more times than that.
It never showed up as a program under programs. There is not directory for it under my windows/programs folder.
The only trace of it is if I go into Control Panel to uninstall a program it shows up there.
Did I not install PC Windows Companion correctly?
I will uninstall and reinstall that,
Thanks,
Jim

Please try next steps:
1) in PocketCloud Settings log out from Auto Discovery
2) on your PC log out from PocketCloud Windows Companion Google account and re-login again
3) Re-launch PocketCloud app on the device
4) Login in Auto Discovery again
5) Try to connect to the machine

"Allow Loopback Connections" is checked. There are no ip addresses listed in the box above though. Should there be?
Thanks,
Jim

Please check TightVNC configuration:
1) Right click on the tray icon and select "Configuration".
2) Click on the "Access Control" tab.
3) Under "Loopback Connections" ensure that "Allow loopback connections" is checked.
Let me know if it works
