DHCP Problem with T10 and Windows Server 2008 r2
DHCP Problem with T10 and Windows Server 2008 r2
Hello,
We are in the process of implementing Wyse Terminals in our facility in Czech. We are using Dell Switches(28xx Series) with Spanning Tree Protocol. The DHCP Server is a Windows Server 2008 r2 DataCenter Edition.
Now to my problem: When the client boots it tries to get an IP address but fails and the network configuration dialog appears. Directly after closing the dialog the client tries again to get an IP address and instantly succeed. I tried to connect the client to the main switch where the server is connected but with the same result.
We have the same configuration(switches and server) in our HQ in Germany and there it works perfectly with the same devices. Where should I look for the error?

I have the same issue here with T10 units and Windows Server 2008 R2. DHCP works fine for windows clients but not the Wyse terminals. I've upgraded to the latest firmware 8.xxx. Still no go. I've seen many others post similar symptoms but can find no real resolution for this. Anyone have any ideas?

Solved my issue. We are using an older Nortel switch and I hounded our network guys with this FastPort enable which is what Wyse is advising. They said that this a Cisco config not available in Nortel. However upon further digging they found the equivalent on Nortel called Fast Search which was disabled at the port by default. They enabled and now works great. Check your switches for this port setting or something like it based on the type of switch in your environment. Thx.

No, they are wired connections. DHCP works fine with windows clients.

I'm going to call support and report this issue. Getting no solutions here. If I can get anywhere on this I will report back to this board.
