--Pending Fix-- 802.1x config - use machine name as 802.1x username

--Pending Fix-- 802.1x config - use machine name as 802.1x username

Hi,

Is it possible to use a variable in the IEE8021X config in wnos.ini?

I tried the following, but this set the 802.1x username to "$TN" and not WT008064......

IEEE8021X=yes network=wired ServerValidate=yes eap=yes eaptype=EAP-PEAP peapeap=EAP-MSCHAPV2 peapmschapun=$TN peapmschappwdEnc=XXXXXXXXX peapmschaphidedm=yes

Thanks,

Al

the username should be what the name you want to pass the authentication
if you do not use the ini, what's name you fill in the textbox? if it is “user1", please set "user1" in the ini

Al,
We have been able to incorporate this feature into the next release of Beta code. This will be Drop #3, and will be available before May 9th. We will be able to support Peapmschapun, peapgtcun and leapun with this variable as well.

Thanks
John

Hi,
Not sure I'm getting my request across clearly here.

1. I can use the terminal name as the 8021x username with or without an ini if I type it in on each terminal / modify it for each terminal's mac.ini file

2. As we have thousands of terminals to roll out, I want to use the $TN variable in the IEE8021X config line in wnos.ini to specify the 8021x username, instead of configuring the terminals individually as above. However this does not get expanded at the terminal - it just sets the 8021x username to "$TN"; not the actual terminal name.

Does that explain what we're trying to achieve?

Thanks,

Al

Hi, I would like to use the INI so that we can use the name of the terminal as the username - and have this configured automatically. This is to avoid the desktop teams having to manually enter the username on each terminal in the 802.1x config, as they roll out thousands of terminals.
Thanks,
Al

Yes Al,
I've reached out to your local field team, they should be in contact with you on this enhancement request.

Thanks
John
