WTOS 7 on S10

WTOS 7 on S10

I found WTOS 7 available for download today. I attempted to update a couple S10 units with the new firmware and received the following error... "Compressed image is too big (2192263)". Has anyone seen this yet?

Thanks,
Tegz

To help clarify a bit, the ThinOS 7 included some major updates in user experience and protocol support and therefore the size of the image does not fit on the BIOS chip that is on the S10. One thing to keep in mind is that many of the updates are not relevant for the S-class platform since it is designed as an low-end basic usage hardware (i.e. no multimedia, single monitor support, no rotation, etc).

Even so, for those customers that want to use ThinOS 7, we do support it with "netboot". This means that a mini bootloader can be installed on the S10 and when it starts up, it will load the full ThinOS 7 image over the network and use it from RAM. The S10 bits with ThinOS7 will soon be posted on the maintenance self-service site with further details (an excerpt below)

#### Excerpt from upcoming documentation for S10 ThinOS 7 package ####
Before upgrading an S10 to the latest release of WTOS will require that you take some limitations of the platform into consideration.
1. Once the unit is upgraded with this release, the S10 (and only the S10) cannot be downgraded to the previous release of firmware.
2. Only upgrade from 6.5 to 7.0 is supported. If you have previous versions, you will need to upgrade to 6.5 first before upgrading to 7.0.
3. Due to the entry level processor of the S10, not all features are supported, specifically anything to do with multimedia. (a table will be provided with more details)

Any fix for the DHCP timeout issue?

Michele or others -

Did anyone come to a resolution on the DHCP timeout issue?

I think I read somewhere in the WTOS 7 Admin guide that for the S10, you have to boot from PXE/FTP to upgrade the firmware. Not sure though...

Any resolution for this problem? Is it possible that Wyse doesn't give a resolution to this problem that affect users and a quick method to downgrade the unit to 6.5 ( fully working ) ?

Hello,
I had the same problem but adding something new:
after upgrading DHCP does not get IP the first time, after timeout it enters the network setup and then clicking OK it gets the IP. It does like this every time I restart the terminal.
Obviously I checked cables & everything but the terminal worked until upgrade.
I tried to downgrade to 6.5.0_30 but it says it can't.
Any hint?
Thanks!

I think they removed the download link for S10. Buggy 7.0.0_30?

For the moment I use WTOS 6.2 on our Wyse S10
Until now I used Citrix neigbourhoud to connect, but we plan to use the web interface. Has some an idea wether this webinterface works on wyse S10
btw: i'm looking for WTOS 6.5 or 7 but can't find it. Will the be some so good to send it to wyse@brachot.com ?

thanks

Koen
