issues with RDP to windows 7 after MSKB 2718704

issues with RDP to windows 7 after MSKB 2718704

We're having a really hard time pinning down exactly what's happening hear and the information around the net is sporadic and disjointed at best...

Between 6/6-6/7 about 70% of our Wyse R10L clients stopped being able to connect to their respective Windows 7 VMs via RDP.

The RDP connections are standard 1-1 connections with no connection brokering, they do NOT use NLA, and the vm connections are listed by friendly dns name.

In the event viewer of the R10L there are two errors present:
1) RDP negotiate error 5
2) RDP x224 layer connect failure

We researched on this for a while with no real answers, but found a common thread on all of the affected VMs... They had all received MSKB 2718704 (Flame response), regardless of whether they were set to receive windows updates or not.

We have two work arounds for this, but no answers and no perm solution...

Workaround 1) If you BOTH change the connection to the VMs IP address AND enable NLA it will connect, but only if both parameters are changed.

Workaround 2) If you perform a system restore on the VM to before the installation of MSKB 2718704 and then reboot the Wyse terminal it will connect using the original settings (however this will only solve the issue until the update installs again, i'm assuming)

Any thoughts, or similar issues, advice, insight, answers, or mutually beneficial griping are greatly appreciated.
