Can a WES client be converted to VMWare (P2V)

I am working with a software vendor on installing an application on WES and XPe terminals. The vendor has asked for a "Virtual" Wyse client to test against.

I wasn't sure if a Wyse terminal could be P2V'd or not so I gave it shot and didn't have any luck.

Has anyone ever tried this before and got it working?

One option would be to download WES from Microsoft; install it on a PC and then P2V the PC (this works). The concern I have is that Vanilla WES from Microsoft is probably not the same as WES on a Wyse terminal as I'm sure the OS has been tweaked for use on Wyse terminals.
