View Menu Bar not appearing on desktop

View Menu Bar not appearing on desktop

We are using a P20 Zero Client to connect to our View desktops. The P20 appears to be working fine with the exception that the View Menu Bar, at the top of the display, does not appear on the Windows 7 x64 desktops.

Can anyone tell me how to get the Menu bar to appear on our Windows 7 x64 desktops?

We must have access to the Menu bar in order to turn on/off USB redirection.

P20 Firmware version: tera1_rel4-0-2_rc_tera_r4_0_2@13079

VMWare View client: 5.2.1 build-937772

Did you ever get an answer to this? You turn off USB Redirection via the Teradici console settings.

For others benefit - this is straight from Teradici Support.

The View Menu bar is only available on the "Windows" View Client. All Zero clients automatically redirect any non HID devices connected to the usb ports. The only way of turning usb devices on/off on Zero Clients is to connect/disconnect the usb device.

The are differences in the way the USB devices are handed between the VMware View Client and the Zero Client. The VMware View soft clients works with various operating systems to reconstruct the image delivered over PCoIP and send the mouse and keyboard input back to the VM. Depending on the version of the VMware View software client, USB deivce redirection and other functionality is available. The Wyse P20 Zero Client has hardware to natively decode PCoIP image data as well as handle USB and audio. The experience delivered on the Wyse P20 Zero Client makes it feel more like you actually have a traditional PC at your desk. Therefore if you plug in a USB device it is automatically connected to the VM just as if it was a PC. To increase the security of USB, there is functionality on the Wyse P20 Zero Client to add a list of allowed and disallowed devices either by the device PID/VID or by device class. This can be configured from the web interface of the zero client, the Teradici Management Console or through the PCoIP Group Policy settings.

Update

The latest Teradici driver Teradici Firmware release 4.2.0 GA now has a small utility bar for zero clients, but for now it only has a DISCONNECT feature.
