XPS 8900, adding a USB Type-C card?

USB 3.1 card will not add thunderbolt 3.

You need X4 slot to get USB 3.1 bandwidth.  And you need Sata power for the card if its really providing  USB-C features.

What does Thunderbolt have to do with anything?

I want to add a card with USB-C connectors because my computer currently only has USB-A connectors. I'm seeing more and more components with USB-C cables. I don't want to have to buy a whole new computer just to keep up with hardware technology.

I'm considering the same thing. Were you successful adding a USB-C card to your XPS 8900? If so, which card did you purchase? Any advice? 

What about simple/inexpensive USB-C to USB adapters?  Just make sure they're for both charging and data.  A lot of them are for charging only.

Or if you want to get fancy, something like a Dell DA300 USB-C Mobile Adapter which includes USB-C, USB-A, HDMI, DP, VGA, and Ethernet. 

PCI-E X1 doesnt have USB-C bandwidth so the card should be AT LEAST X4.  USB-C and thunderbolt use the same connector and cable.  You cannot add thunderbolt however if your motherboard doesnt have thunderbolt controller and thunderbolt security in bios.
