Correct BIOS version for XPS 8910?
I have bios version 1.1.5 dated 12/13/2017. Is that the most recent and correct version?

Version 1.1.5 was the most recent version before it was pulled. Whether it is correct or not is difficult to say. Dell states, "If you have already applied the BIOS update, please wait for further information and an updated BIOS release, no other action is recommended at this point. Please continue to check back for updates.".I updated to 1.1.5 on 1/9/18 and have had no issues. Hope this helps.

I just discovered the following Dell User Forum thread about BIOS updating to 2.2.1, which contains 42 replies so far, some from people who appear to be very knowledgeable: Has XPS 8900 BIOS version 2.2.1 been updated? I didn't read past page 3, but am beginning to think that the automated notification of XPS 8900 owners (that I continue to receive) to go back to 2.1.10 has merit and may reflect the latest official Dell recommendation.
I have emailed the Dell support person I've been working with on another problem and asked him to check with Level 2 support for additional guidance.

I have an XPS 8900, and don't know the difference between that and a 8910.
On 1/28/18 while using the computer, I got an onscreen notification from Dell SupportAssist of an urgent driver update available and clicked OK to install it. Soon a second notification informed me that a manual update of the BIOS would be required and to go towww.Dell.com. On the page http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/drivers/driversdetails?driverId=3MM5C I was told to manually download: “Version Version 2.1.10, 2.1.10 Category BIOS” which was dated 02 Aug 2017.
I downloaded the file (XPS8900-2.1.10.exe) and verify its checksum, but got a popup window during installation telling me that I already had a higher numbered version (2.2.1) installed and it was about to replace it with Ver. 2.1.10. I aborted, as this appeared to be a reversion, not an update.
Using “wmic bios get smbiosbiosversion” in the CMD window I confirmed that currently Ver 2.2.1 of the BIOS is installed. This is consistent with my manual logbook entry on 12/31/17 noting this BIOS update.
I emailed Dell support the information above and asked: Does Dell actually recommend that I substitute Ver. 2.1.10 for 2.2.1, or is there an error in this instruction?

There may not be a lot of difference between the XPS 8900 and the XPS 8910 as far as the processors (Intel 6th Gen) and chipset (Intel Z170) isare concerned but the BIOS are completely different. So far I have not seen any reports of problems with the XPS 8910 similar to those with the XPS 8900.
